Dr. Amber Riggs (Dr. Amber) was born and raised in Alaska, graduating from West Anchorage High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 1997 from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Following completion of her undergraduate studies and a year of research work in the Molecular and Medical Genetics Department at Oregon Health Sciences University, Dr. Amber attended Western States Chiropractic College (now the University of Western States). Dr. Amber graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Doctorate of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree in December 2001.
Dr. Amber first opened Back In Motion Chiropractic (BIMC) in 2002 with the goal of creating a multi practitioner healing center, focusing on comprehensive and personalized patient care. She has made it her priority to provide a comfortable and professional clinic, where each patient becomes an educated participant in their health care journey. Dr. Amber and Team BIMC are excited to now be located inside the Movement Clinic and have the opportunity to provide even more treatment options ranging from acute pain relief to rehabilitative therapy.
With the belief that the body has an amazing ability to heal itself and adapt when it is provided with the proper input and guidance, Dr. Amber enjoys treating patients of all ages. Her specialty is sports injury recovery and rehabilitation. She is passionate about getting patients active through all stages of life. Dr. Amber was a competitive high school and collegiate athlete, and continues to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. She has completed additional training in Active Release Technique®, Graston Technique® (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation), Kinesiology Taping, Craniosacral Therapy from the Upledger Institute, Class IV Laser Therapy, exercise and injury rehabilitation, extremity adjusting, dry needling and myofascial therapy.
In her free time Dr. Amber loves experiencing the Alaskan outdoors with her two sons! Dr. Amber can be found on the Nordic ski trails around town, on the slopes at Alyeska Ski Resort, camping, fishing, biking, running, volunteering with Challenge Alaska, or at the CrossFit gym!! Always ready for an adventure with her family!
